OT Bobcat 540?

The fuel pump on it gets hot and it vapor locks. Pour cold water on it till cool jump in and away I go. Last for 20 min then does it again. It has a conversion from the orig. air cooled to a new Kawasaki motor same as what is in the Mule utlity vehicles. The pump is electric and has to pump the fuel out of the tank from the top. Is the engine use less fuel and the pump pumps more than need be. I don't know what kind to look for a replacement pump.
