Removing a Piston from Below

The piston pin is knocking on the 3rd piston of my Farmall H. Can I remove and reinstall the piston through the bottom of the engine as opposed to removing the head? 2nd question: If I don't work the tractor can I just leave it alone? I also thought about not connecting the spark plug wire (the knock goes away when I do this). This is a show tractor.
