I have repaired the shaft on two 4oos. I welded them where they were worn and then turned down in a lathe. The pedals have some wear in them, but I was satisfied with repaired shaft and left the pedal alone. The wear on the shaft will be not be around the entire shaft. It will be an area about half way around on the front of the shaft on the outside edge, and half way around on the back of the shaft on the inside, or just the opposite. SDE
