I have a 1946 M Farmall that runs smooth as silk and seems to have good power. It was originally a kerosene burning engine that started on gas. The original intake manifold is still on the tractor. Sometimes it will start with the starter when it is cold but after the engine heats up, forget it. The magneto is in excellant working order. It think the problem is low compression in the engine. The starter will whiz the engine when hot, but it will not start. If I pull it off with another tractor it will start and run perfect. Is there any way other than a complete overhaul to get the compression back up on this old jewel?
