I've got a restored 53 Super M. It has cranked super fast for the past two years since it was restored, but the other day it didn't hit a lick. It didn't even make a sound, almost like the battery was totally dead, but it wasn't. I checked the battery and it's good. I figured if the starting motor was bad it would have drug a few times before it died. But it has never made a sound. First thing I did was change out the starter switch. That didn't help. I got my dad to look at the back of the switch as I press it and he says it glows up like a light bulb. I don't know why. I'm pretty sure I have it hooked up right. On the top bolt is the hot battery cable (and the small wire to the lights) and on the bottom bolt is the cable to the starter. The ground cable from the battery is grounded to a bolt beside the battery box. I thought maybe the switch was upside down, but there are no markings on it at all. It looks like it doesn't matter which way it is turned. SO if the switch is hooked up o.k. I don't know what it could be. Could the on/off button be a problem? Does anyone have any ideas? My email is jasonlheard@yahoo.com.
