Painting springs?

Hi, I'm starting to think about restoring, or at least repainting, my Allis Chalmers Model G tractor. I've read most of the twenty eight pages of posts in this part of the forum! One thing that I don't think I've seen mentioned anywhere is springs: my Model G has coil springs in a couple of places, some of them large; it appears that they were originally painted, though of course they're pretty rusty at this point. What kind of paint would be best for something like a spring, which needs to flex a bit to do its job?

Thanks,

Kurt

Cockbird_Hunter has the right idea. I don't think I have ever seen paint crack on a spring. I am thinking mostly the big coil springs under the seat of IH tractors, and other smaller ones.

I stretch springs out with a ratcheting strap between two stationary objects, then paint them like everything else using the same paint. I also wondered if the paint would stand up to the flexing but I have not had any to crack or pop loose.
