She Just Didnt Know What To Do | It was four years past, I had just got a 2n Ford with a Woods bushhog. A close neighbor got a 2000 Ford but needed a hog, I was given the deed of locating one if possible while out driving. It was a warm summer aftrnoon, when driving a 2 lane road I had been down many many times when I saw it. It turned out to be a 6' Bushhog brand hog. The older woman was out in her yard tending to her flowers when I pulled up the gravel drive. 'Would you be interessted in selling the bushhog' I asked after we introduced ourselves. Well it turned out the bushog went to an old tractor that was in a barn a ways down the road. Was the tractor for sale, 'I just dont know what I am going to do', was her response. Her response was the same for the next three years too. I made a point to only stop once each spring, to spend an hour or so chatting with her, and to leave my number. She always reassured me she had kept my number from the previous year. Well, the old 2n just wasnt enough tractor for me so I traded up to a Massey 50gas. I have a habit of buying junk and fixing them up then pricing them to low and selling them. This happened to my Massey. I had just decided not to sell, but to just put out the money and get a good loader for it when the phone rings. It was the little old lady, 'Are you still interested in my tractor'? I was but answered possibly depending on price. The tractor turned out to be a Ford 861 with a brand new rear tire and starter, and, a Freeman loader with trip bucket, and everthing was in good condition. The price was 400(4 hundred). Oh yeah I was interested and she had her money the next day. Well the motor was stuck, but after some tinkering it runs fine and lifts good. I now have about 1000 invested in a 47 horse tractor with loader, all because a friend needed a bushog. Eddie, ky, entered 2002-01-19 My Email Address: Not Displayed |

Gatherin of the Orange - by Rick Nikolich. In July of 1998 I was talking to fellow Allis Chalmers collector Mike Schilling about the annual "Gathering of The Orange" AC show coming up in August of 1999. He got this wild idea that we should get a convoy of AC tractors and drive them from Charlotte, Michigan 105 miles to LaGrange, Indiana.
