Long Summer Days | Back in the early fourtys grandpa bought a new farmall b tractor .It was the first rubber tired tractor that he owned. My dad grew up using this tractor on their dairy farm, When I came home from school grandpa would always have some mechanical job underway and he wanted to be sure that I got involved with it. Sometime he would tear something apart just so I could put it back together. This old B was often under repair for one reason or another .All of us kids learned to drive on the old farmall B as did my dad. I spent many summer days cultivating, planting pulling a hay wagon with it. At 56 yrs of age I decided to restore it. A year after I started dad got sick and passed away. 4 yrs later the tractor is finally finished. Every nut and bolt had memories, I drove it out of the shop today, newly painted with many new parts. My grandson will drive it in a few years. david crum, IN, entered 2013-04-03 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
