rememberance day | Back in 1981 or 82 I was working at Massey Foundry in Brantford Ontario Canada. It was a tough place to work, dirty, hot, dangerous, hot, heavey, dark, and really hot. I was working shake out, where the moulding sand and the red hot castings separate. Did I mention it was loud and hot. This place had three hundred men banging out cast iron. When you looked around you would think you were in hell. There was smoke, fire, blackness and the smell. Almost all the jobs were piece work, meaning more production, more money. But at 11am on the 11th day of November Every year the entire foundry would shut down for 2 minutes of silence, to remember the soldiers that gave there lives for our freedom. At the end of the two minutes a loud horn would blast and the hole foundry began to rev up to speed.
