I sowed alfalfa in a field a couple weeks ago. I walked on the seed after I rolled it with a corrugated roller. I rolled it again after seeding perpendicular to the first rolling. A shower a few days after seeding produced an excellent stand. But a majority of the seed evidently rolled into the "trenches" left by the first rolling. The field looks like it was planted in 3 inch rows. The ribbons of new plants running perpendicular to the ridges of the last rolling sure look pretty.
