Your speed problem may very well be caused by your internet provider.
I have a 33.6 modem in my Pentium 200 MMX, and my ISP (provider) claims all of their modems are 28.8.
Most of the time I can only connect at about 21K to 26K. Some local modem links like to the public library will run a little bit faster, maybe 26K.
If you want to spend the money, go find an ISP that supports 56x2 or 56K flex modems.
But what for is all we are doing is shooting the breeze about big boys toys? I'd rather go out and buy another set of tires for the difference each month.
Forget about Surplus Direct. They haven't been too good since EggHead Software Bought them.
Try www.ubid.com. Is an auction sale outfit. I got my AST Bravo 200 MMX for $887.00 through them. Just be reasonable in your bidding.
If some other fool wants to bid the item up to retail price, let them. Another deal will come around.
Their auctions close three times a week.
