: : I know you say the plugs are new, however, new still MAY be defective. I'd pull them and test 'em (UNDER PRESSURE-95lbs. or so).
: : --not firing right under load (high compression).
: : Just a thought. Good luck.

: : : I have a Farmall B that sputters and pops slighty. It is
: : : most noticeable at mid/high speed (idles perfect). Here is what I checked
: : : and think are working ok. New points, plugs, distributor cap,
: : : rotor,plug wires. Checked timing. I tried 2 different clean carbs.
: : : Checked the compression - all 4 cylinders read 95 psi. Checked for vacuum
: : : leaks on the intake from carb to cylinders. Fresh Gas
: : : It runs great other than this variable pop/miss that is driving me
: : : crazy. My next guess is carbon build up in the heads or intake manifold.
: : : Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
: : : Thanks, DG

: Had the same type of miss on mine. It was the plug wires. I built some new copper wire ones and the miss went away.

It's hard to think after a long weekend but... have you checked the dwell specs and coil? If the points don't allow the coil to saturate fully then there is a chance that you will have a high rpm miss and if the coil is bad then it might cause the same thing. Hope I helped, Me
