: Hey, call it a jubilee and enjoy it.:

Yes! Enjoy your tractor! Ain't it cool?!
(and, having said that...)
OUCH. If you want to call it something, call it a 640! If it was not manufactured in (late 1952 or) 1953, it is not a Golden Jubilee. Some of the minor differences right off the top of my head-
-- the 640 transmission was geared slightly differently (2nd and 3rd gear, I think)
-- the 640 has a 3 blade fan, the Golden Jubilee/NAA has a 4 blade fan
-- the hood emblem is totally different, if it survived
The two tractors are virtually identical, just as a 2N is virtually identical to a 9N... but you will not find many who call a 9N a 2N or vice-versa. The serial number is indeed way out of line for a 600-series Ford. You might recheck it? No WAY could it be in the Jubilee/NAA series, as there were only 128,965 tractors in that series.
A replaced transmission/housing? It is possible... but improbable.
And now for something completely the same. If you have read my previous posts on calling anything but a Golden Jubilee a "Jubilee" you will not want to re-read the following-
I will never understand it! "Jubilee" seems to be the default designation for any post-8N Ford tractor. There are those that insist upon calling a (serial number verified) NAA a "Jubilee." Now THAT is weird, as there were FEWER NAA's produced! Stream-of-conscienceness thinking/typing, here; in 1959 Ford came out with the 501 series, a one-row offset that was a redesign of the 600 (who would refer to a 541 as a 600?). Few 541's were sold. This makes the 541 (and the 541-4) a highly prized model, based upon the limited production run. It's a numbers thing, right? SO, if we apply this same reasoning to the Golden Jubilee/NAA series, the 1954 NAA, not the '52-'53 Golden Jubilee, should be a more sought after model since there were some 20,000+ FEWER NAA's produced than Jubilee's. One would think that "NAA" would be the default designation for post-8N Fords instead of "Jubilee."
Sorry about the rant. I truly do not mean to antagonize anyone, I am just... enthusiastic?
