: I would like to know some tips on painting a JD50
: and #8 mower. I can strip the paint down, I just
: need to know how many layers of what to put on.
: Thank You.

::::You might want to check the archives, there is some good info. there waiting to be discovered. What worked best for me, was to buy a 90 deg. pneumatic die grinder, ($50), some of those 3" dia. quick change, course grit, fiber abrasive inpregnated discs (3-M product, available at automotive paint stores), these strip faster than a wire brush. Then I wire brushed the areas inaccessible to the discs. I then first primed with an etching primer, then primed again with an epoxy primer, and finally top coated with an acrylic enamel. All these products can be obtained from any auto. paint store, along with all the help and literature necessary. I would advise against polyurethane, its just too expensive, if you don't know what your doing, (I had $80 worth of harderner go bad just because I didn't use it within 10 days after I opened it) Also get a good paint /dust mask, that old paint is toxic. I hope this is of some help. Bonehead
