I too have been going through the agony of the "right" garden tractor. 4X4, 2X4, diesel vs. gas, gear vs. hydrostat, etc. etc.
Last week I picked up a GOOD, used (not abused) Simplicity 7119 (19HP) Hydrostat, with all manuals and a bunch of equipment.
Replacement value over $11,000. Mike, the factory rep is just a phone call away, and very helpful. Bottom line seems to be
the good machines, Troy-Bilt, Simplicity etc., don't get the glitzzy advertising the popular names get.
This Forum really works well to become a well informed buyer, with all the expertise available
I echo your thanks !!!

: Thank all of you for your valuable help regarding a selection of a garden tractor. I know the one I selected isnt a true garden tractor, but After reviewing feature for feature I Decided on a Simplicity Broadmoor 44" with V Twin Vanguard engine. Everything about this machine speaks quality. On the outside they all look shiny when new, its what's inside that counts. And most of you were right, you can't buy anything decent for under $3,500.

: Once Again Thanks to ALL!
