: My wife has a 1946 Farmall A, which was originally
: a Kerosene burner. I am rebuilding the carburetor
: and I don't know which one I have. I know it is a
: Zenith. In the Central Tractor catalog, they have
: three different Zenith carburetor kits listed for
: an A. The only other numbers stamped on the carburetor
: are Zenith Made in USA, 3-63, & B5. Does anyone know
: which kit I need?

: There are also three different distributors listed for
: this tractor, an IHC, Delco Remy, and H-4 Magneto. How
: will I be able to look and tell which one I have?
: Thanks.
Mike, Trying to determine which carb kit you need id not easy so don't feel stupid. If your carb is truly a karosene burner, the main jet in the bottom of the carb will be adjustable. That is about the only distiguishing feature of this carb. The only difference in the zenith carb rebuild kit will be the gasket between the top and bottom of the carb and the only real difference there is the placement of a hole for the bowl vent. I think that regardles of the kit you order, you will get several gaskets, you need only to carefully choose the one to use. Be sure that the bowl can vent; I've been through this. The delco distributor was aftermarket and its distinguishing feature here is that the distributor is "standing up". That is the cap is facing up. An IHC distibutor has its cap facing the rear of the tractor. I doubt that you have a Delco but it's possible. A magneto has no visible coil! The coil is internal and the discharge comes from a square cap; the only wire to a mag is a grounding wire. Hope that helps some.
