: : : When the 3 point hitch is raised there is a growl coming from what seems to be the hydraulic pump area. If the hitch is lowered enough to take the pressure off the noisy growl is less. Any ideas?

: : The pump does have a relief/safety valve. Lower arms, and wrap a chain around the upper arms to axle. Raise lift lever, if noise is same it is the relief/safety valve.

: Suggest you do what Ray says with caution. If relief valve is stuck and chain is not strong enough, you may find it wraped around your neck. Raise the lever with a stick from at 40 feet away!!!!

not very good answeres on here the hyd pump does not go into relive unless something stops it from going up etc. you have a proplem in the lift linkage when the lift arms are up the pump is designed to go to neutral with the arms up there should be some travel left in the arms if not repair the inside lift linkage or adjust it
