A lot of Super M owners are not aware that there were actually three series of Super M's. Each is easily identified by looking at the front part and rear part of the transmission casting. The first series, Series I, had disk brakes, the same hydraulics as the M, and the transmission casting looks just like the M except for the disk brake mountings. Series II has disk brakes and the same hydraulic pump like the 400 and the 450 and the transmission casting looks just like the casting on the 400 & 450 except that it does not have the holes cast on the rear for the two point hitch mounting. The Series III looks like the Series II except that the rear of the transmission casting had the holes cast and drilled for mounting the two point hitch, although this hitch was not available on any IH tractor other than the Super C untill the 400 series was introduced.
