The FORD 2000 4-cylinder gas is a great tractor. I paid $2200 for an LCG model with a mid-mount hydraulic sickle bar and front mounted pump. I picked up used 28"wheels and tires for $100, removed the mower, and use it for general farm work. The early 2000's are the most refined of the small 4-cylinder Fords; it is really like an improved 600 model. The later 2000's with the 3-cylinder engine are good in diesel, I don't know about gas. I think these later engines were made in England.

Now for some questions from the rest of you.

What year was the change made to the 3-cyl 2000 models??

Did these LCG turf models have a different rear axle ratio than the standard utility models? Mine seems to be quite speedy in 4th gear, much faster than my 8N; could this be due to the switch from the small dual wheels to the 28" rims??
Thanks for any response.
