: : I must say, I found this tractor page about a week ago and I appreciate all of you who answered my questions and cut up with me about aliens and Elvis and stuff. What a great group! No matter if your Green or Red or Blue or even David Brown.
: : Gotta say Hi to Shorty Dear.

: : I have heard some people say in the past that Tractor people dont get along with people who collect old engines and visa versa. Not nessessarily that they hate them, Just that they keep to them selves and dont associate with the others much. Ive heard this from several people over the years. Please post and tell the world if this is true or not. Give your honest opinion and any other feedback. I think a lot of people need to know. Thank you all very much. Rob Rietman

: Hi Rob, I really don't think there is any bad blood among tractor and engine collectors. I talk to a lot of people, and I think most of them own both tractors and engines. I will also say that 99.9% of the people in old iron collecting are fine people and most of them will go out of their way to help a fellow collector, or someone like me who is in the business of selling both tractors and engines.

I think tha there are people who love turning wrenches and those who don't. Sprinkled among them, as Cowboy says, there are a few jerks, but for the most part guys with dirty fingernails associate with others like them. Sure there are different interests within the brotherhood but we all stand on common ground whether it be old bikes (Harleys), engines, tractors, cars or locomotives. An appreciation for mans ingenuity and accomplishments with raw materials is what I feel whether I'm lookin' at a single cylinder farm engine or a Pratt & Whitney 28 cylinder supercharged rotary aircraft engine. I think the puit-downs and knock-abouts are mostly in jest (I hope I haven't hurt anyone!?) but the shows are always indifferent places and it's easy to insult someine who isn't there to defend himself. I don't follow Pauls advise and "Greet the brethren with a kiss..." but I do cast a friendly insult. Nuff said? Me
