Check the simple things first. Check for corroson accross the contacts on your ignition switch. I guess the best thing to do is take off the wire to your switch which shorts out your mag. then see if you have spark. Check primary wire to Mag for age cracking. The insulation dries up and falls off after many moons. Touching ground, no spark. My neighbor had the keyway problem engine ran but the muffler got red hot due to timing problem.
