: I have the opportunity to buy a McCormick Deering 1020 for $500. I am told that it runs but I would be surprised if it did. It has been converted to rubber tires of which only one (rear) holds air. This seems like a lot of money to me but it is in California and everything is expensive here. Is the price in the ballpark?

In northern NY, $500 is not bad if the tractor is complete and running - but check the usual things like manifold , radiator and rims carefully! A good gasoline starter tank
is an added bonus - they're kinda scarce. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get it to run - 10-20's are well-made tractors.
