: : I am looking for a used tractor to do some mowing of a ball field and maintenance of a gravel road. My budget is $3000. I will probably need a belly mower and a scrape blade. I grew up on a farm using an AC WD and a Farmall B, so I know a little about tractors, but not much about 3-pt hitch implements. I kind of like the Ford tractors, and it looks like the 8N is close to my price range, but I'm unsure about availability of the implements I need. I would appreciate advice. Thanks in advance.
: Joe, I would recommend either a 9N or 8N Ford. These are very sturdy, durable tractors that crank out about 20-25 horsepower. The great thing about these tractors is that they have a built in 3 point hitch. You can go anywhere and buy category 1 3 point attachments. I have a 1943 Ford 9N and a Farmall Cub. There's no comparison: I like the Cub, but the Ford is twice the tractor. Good luck.

I live in Memphis and recently purchased a 1954 Ford Jubilee tractor for under $4000. I shopped for a long time and was lucky to find one in really good shape. I use it to take care of some land I have and with a 3 point hitch, you can easily find good deals on used pieces of equipment. I would recommend buying an American model such as Ford. You will almost definately have to buy some parts and they are reasonable...unlike the foreign models.
