It is hard to say what is exactly wrong with your WD. If I were you I would first just pull the inspection port open and take the shift lever out. It sounds more mojor than that though and will need some shift fork work. Buy a good manuel and you should be able to do it yourself. I recomend for a manuel the allis manuel if possible and would stay away from the IT.
