: I am new to the tractor world and would like to know more about a 3pt. bucket. I was thinking about putting a frontend loader on my tractor, but I always hear its hard on the front end. I would only need a bucket to move the occasional pile of gravel or dirt anyhow. And by the way, what is a 3 pt. pole crane and how high can it lift things? If you need to email me at pstanley@direct.ca

If you only need to move a little now and then, the three point bucket is probably your best bet. It's not quite as convenient as a loader, but when you put a loader on your tractor you make it less useful for other purposes. A loader makes it more clumsy to get around, harder to get on and off, and depending on the tractor, you may have to add weight to the rear end (fluid in the tires or wheel weights) to balance the load. If you use the tractor in the woods, to get firewood for example, and loader can make it harder to get around in tight places.
