It doesn't have the ajustable tappets. I do know that when he had it apart he didn't keep track of where those little caps on the tappets came from. They got all mixed up. He did install new valve guides. Could a valve guide be jumping up and down or is the tappet clearance just really messed up. A friend had the same problem, when he pulled the head, he found that when his father put in new liners, he did something wrong, I believe it had something to do with the head gasket not holding the liner in place. But what was making the sound was the liner sliding up and down hitting the head and then the block. If this is the case it should be fixed soon, as I remember him complaining as to the cost of the repair. Charles
