Dan,

What you are probably seeing is the low sulfur fuel that is dyed red. Sometimes companies do this, especially if they are tankage limited (as you suggested earlier). If you can find out what the sulfur content is and it's above 0.05% (typically 0.3 -0.5%), it's probably true high sulfur diesel and shouldn't cause a problem.
