Two things I can think of:
shaft size- Info thanks to Jim Becker, before '44 there was 2 standards based on horsepower, 1 1/8 or 1 3/8". After '44 all were 1 3/8".
live pto- live/non-live pto speaks to whether the pto drive is independent of the main engine clutch, or are you able to start and stop tractor forward motion without interrupting the pto?
