: The 8N is good for the things that you mention. It
: has a low center of gravity wich improves stability
: on hills. If your terrain is very hilly, I suggest
: that you move the rear wheels out a bit. The wide
: front will not protect you from roll over. The lack
: of live power only affects you with mowing with a
: shredder/Bush Hog. I have live power on both of the
: tractors I use for shredding. On one of them, I added
: a device called an over running clutch. This is one of
: the best inventions that I've ever used. It allows
: shifting at will, forward or back, and prevents the mower
: from powering the rear wheels. Since I added this to the
: tractor, I don't use the live power except when I get
: to very heavy grass. A lower gear avoids its use then.
: Most farm stores have them and they cost about $65. I bought
: another one this weekend. I plan to put it on my 8N so
: that I can mow with it instead of my Allis WD. The 8N
: has plenty of power for mowing and is a lot more
: maneuverable in tight spaces. So for $65, you can get
: an 8N or 9N and save a couple thousand over the newer
: Fords.
: Regards,

Ditto the over-running clutch. Having a brush-hog push you around unexpectedly can really a be a "rodeo" and not a little dangerous.
