: I may switch to a Farmall

: Was doing some work for a neighbor down the road and found a Farmall 400, LP, wide front, in the back of his barn. Asked what he was going to do with it, and he said probably sell it before too long. There it sat with two flats in the front, and hadn't been cranked since last spring. He climbs on and with a couple of cranks it fires and idles perfectly. I would not have even considered it, but after hearing it run, and hearing the price I have to maybe reconsider. $1,500 (possibly less with the good neighbor discount). Farmall buddy of mine in Ohio said it was well worth it due to 400 being hard to find. Any comments?

: I have in the past only dealt with John Deere's. I restored a JD70 Model tricycle, then a year later found a 70 Model with a wide front, power steering and two point hydraulic. Looked like I was going to return to Australia and had to sell them both. I would like to get back into the swing of things, and I may have to do so on a Farmall 400. Forgive me, brothers of green paint…..for I have sinned.

I think you will be alright going with the red. Making the switch that way certainly wont be as traumatic an going
from red to green and waiting for the other two putts every revolution. May have to R&R in Australia to recover from
the loss. Take an old cane and mount it on the fender to keep from grabbing the clutch lever and remember JD's will last
twice as long because the only run half fast. Good Luck!!
