IH wheel weights are sooo cheap ($10-$25 per 150#), why would you consider anything else? Especially if flats are likely. 3 or 4 pair will give you the traction you need and never compromise the tire. Cost less too. And the tire/rim will stay light enough for you to handle and get to the tire store for repair. Next time you have a flat, put a boot between the tire and tube. This will give you added protection from the thorns.
