Our mechanic, who does his days disguised as a math teacher, told me there is a place in Salt Lake that heats the block to a glowing red in a huge oven, after heating it they pull it out and a guy in a fire suit welds a bit then the block is shoved again into the oven til it's red and the welding continues. He says the price is based on half the cost of a new block. Old is made new, decked, miled, cleaned, etc. I'd lke to see 'em do one. I'm sure there's an outfit like this close to you if there's one in SLC. Good luck, Me
