Guy, about your hard starting. I have 1948 Cub that does exactly the same thing yours does. I used to have the problem of hard starting cold and then gas running from too much fuel. I didn't really fix it, but I figured out that, when it's cold, I pull the choke all the way, hit the starter for about 2 or 3 cranks, then push the choke all the in. Starts 99% of the time! After it starts I feather the choke until warmed up. Give it a shot, who knows?
