One thing that may help out in the fuel mileage is the Edelbrock 600 with electric choke is calibrated leaner from the factory than the 600 with manual choke.Yes it's true that the Edelbrocks are a copy of a Carter AFB but a cheaper copy.The Carters came with spring loaded needles and seats and the Edelbrocks dont.They do offer them though...and if you are gonna go offroad any, I highly recomend you install them or they will flood terribly.They do offer the AVS model which are copies of the Carter AVS and they are supposed to be more suited for offroad use but I don't have any experience with those so I cant offer any tips.But in general a well tuned vacuum secondary carb will always get better fuel mileage than a mechanical secondary because the vacumm secondarys only open when the engine load demands it..unlike the mechanical secondarys which open any time you mash the gas pedal far enough...
