Definately non detergent.I run 20 wt. in mine. Some mfg. want 30 wt.,but not many.I also use oil made for air compressors,I know you can get arguements for using regular non detergent oil,but I found air compressor oil is more transparent than motor oil.When I change my oil,I can see if I'm getting any shavings or contaminates in the compressor.
