I've been thinking about building one over my welding table for years, just can't justify it. Anything that I work on that is that big, I just work on under my bridge crane. It is 24-feet span with 40-feet power travel. The center legs are 8”x 8”x 1/2 ” wall square tube. The welding table is pushed up against one of these legs. I think it would be real easy to mount a swivel beam on this leg. Maybe one of these days I'll do it.
I would think the biggest problem with a floor mount jib crane is anchoring it to the floor. I would look into saw cutting, and chipping out the slab, dig about a 2-feet deep hole. Build a sole plate with bolts through it, and weldable grade rebar candy canes welded to the bottom, and top of the sole plate. Pour the sole plate in concrete.
