please note:pex is NOT quest even though the fittings will work.Two different products entirely though they are very similar.The main problem with quest was it was sold with 2 different crimp fitting types,copper and the far less expensive pvc fittings. This neccestitated having one crimp tool able to crimp both. But there was one huge problem with this setup,installers didnt want to take the time or didnt know how to adjust their tools to get the proper crimp,or in some cases didnt even know that they had to be adjusted. So this led to a huge problem with connections leaking. Pex ,doesnt use two styles of fittings,it only comes with one fitting made of copper (or the compression type fittings of course). This means the tools made for crimping it can be built to crimp that fitting only..NEVER EVER use a crimp tool made for quest on pex,unless you have the adjustment guages,and understand perfectly how to adjust it! note also that every GOOD pex crimp tool comes with a guage to check it,USE IT! I personally have quest and pex in just about every place you can imagine around several farms,in wells,and both above and below ground.Properly installed niether have any problems. If you will notice most problems you see mentioned has to do with fittings leaking or seeping. read the instructions supplied with every fitting,understand how your crimp tool works and KNOW for certain its the proper tool. I noticed one person here complaining of cracked fittings or rings.10-1 hes using a crimp tool setup for plastic quest fittings,and doesnt either have the calibration tool or know its use,or,he doesnt know there is a difference between the two. This is one place where that garage sale crimp tool may not be a bargain. hope this helps if someone is having problems.
