I will give it a try here.
If your tail light has one bulb with two filimants. And only two wires coming out of the fixture. One of the wires will be for the turn/Brake and the other for the Running light.
It will ground through the framework of the light.
Only exception would be 3 wires (ground, tail, turn/stop.) it would not matter which color they are. If they have a 3rd ground wire it will run to the case of the light fixture.
If this doens't help Perhaps if you could post a picture of your fixture and the wires it would help someone to easier help you.
A name of the light fixture could help too.
