It all depends on what and whom you are swapping tanks with. small tanks are customer owned, B, mc 90cf etc. Yes there is a Federal Law that says I can only fill a tank that is ours( Company) but we have agreements with several different national companies to fill and exchange their tanks. I also know that hardly a week goes by that someone tries to pass of a tank that belongs to the store down the street and I will not exchange their tank. As the "I bought my tank stuff, read the fine print,you might have but the fine print on the bills I see now say the seller OWNS the tanks at all times, you just give them money all at once instead of once a year rent.( If you have customer owned tanks it is common now to charge a maintenance fee per cyl.we get 12.00 a year.
