I went and purchased another drum of oil and filled to the correct level and away she went, the hydraulic lift worked first time no problems.
I attached the slasher and made easy work of 4 acres of thigh high weeds and grasses. Even the draught levelling control worked well.

Just out of intrest the transfer case took 55 litres of oil.
