Keith, I believe the shifter does not have threads. I am pretty sure that the rubber shift knob just slips onto the shifter. The steel shift balls used in 1944(?)-1947(?) obviously were threaded, but I don't recall threads for the rubber knob. A 1941 model would not have the steel knob as the '42 models were in production at the time of Pearl Harbor. I think the steel knob appeared in 1944, but not sure. I have a '47 B with the steel knob. Suggest you check Guy Faye's "Originality Guide" for confirmation.
