When the piston kit was installed, were there any mods done to the carb to go with it? If not, you are likely running on the lean side. As ethanol is blended into our fuel, your carb settings get leaner yet. If it is running lean, as it gets hot after a long workout it will start to fade and even develop the odd missfire.
Drill your main jet out aprox 0.100" (7/64" drill is good). Pull out the imulsion tube. It has 3 sets of holes. Drill out the bottom set with the same drill. This should allow you enough adjustment to over fuel, and then back off to a good setting.
