I pulled a 45 parts tractor I have apart today and compared the first reduction gear and pulley gear to the gear set out of a late styled B. There is one tooth difference per gear. Late B 31-73 teeth, early 39-46 has 32-72 teeth. So there is about a 5% reduction using the late B set, but there is a problem. It would be easy to maching a bushing to get the late B pulley gear on the early pulley, but the shaft/spline size is different between the reduction gears. The late B has a larger diameter shaft.
The only thing I can think of doing to make it work is machine the outside of the early gear down to the ID of the outer ring on the later gear and machining it for the dowels as the late gear uses. If anyone has done this, id love to hear from them. Thanks
