The article stated that not only will the Bondo eventually dry, but it will be harder and more dense than if a larger, i.e. proper amount of hardener be used. It also stated that when exposed to air that over time the Bondo itself will harden even without a hardener additive.

At work I used some very old fiberglass filler that had been given to me to form a small ramp over a raised portion of concrete. The hardener I used had seperated and much of the liquid portion dribbled onto the ground before I was able to add it to what filler was in the can. It took two days for the filler to completely harden, but after a year it is still in place and extremely hard.

I certainly agree that the proper amount of hardener should be used, but if a soft spot is discovered I"d leave it unworked for several days. I"m willing to bet that you will find it satisfactory after that time.
