It's usually advisable to use a hardener with acrylic enamel since it tends to improve the chemical resistence of the film and permits recoating without problems of lifting. The hardener usually contains isocyanates though that present a potential health-safety problem. Such materials should not be used, IMO, without a fresh air-supplied respirator.

As I recall, the NASON acrylic enamel, unlike most others, actually requires the hardener be used in order for the paint to even dry properly. I recommend you check out the actual technical data sheet for the product you are contemplating to see if it is actually required. You can find it at the link below by poking around in the technical manuals section of the site.

The tech data sheet will tell you what specific hardener, if any, must be used with the product. I would definitely recommend you stay with the NASON hardener for their brand of paint rather than trying to mix and match between different manufacturer's.
