With that said, a sealer or top coat is the only thing I know of to prevent rust. If inside and kept dry, and if all the rust was removed before primer you probably won't have a problem. There are products such as Picklex 20 that is applied to the metal before primer that will prevent rust. Some of the experts may know of something.
