Yeah this engine will NOT run if set at 2 ATDC. I tried 2 BTDC next and it started and ran ok. Next I tried 4 BTDC and it ran perfectly but I did have to back the automatic advance off a little. I did two overhauls on it because the first overhaul kit was crap I had 2 sleeves crack. FYI DONT BUY A BLOCKMASTER OVERHAUL KIT. The next overhaul kit looked like a better quality OH kit. Sleeves and pistons are standard size. We had a Oliver mechanic look at the cylinder head and he said the valves were recessed a lot but we decided to put it back on anyway. It does start harder.
