The engine in the Oliver 80 is similar to the 18-28. Some of the early 80 blocks still had OLIVER-HART PARR cast into them on the left side near the top. That disapeared as the blocks were used up. The bore size also increased in the 80 engine, but the sleeves are interchangable. The crank and connecting rods are the same in both. My 1936, 18-28 is an all fuel model so it has the low compression head. It may well be that the 18-28 had a high compression head available for gasoline too. The early 80"s were three speeds as were the 18-28"s, however the increase in horsepower of the 80"s caused some rear axle failures so when the four speeds came out, the axles were a bit larger.
