Sounds like transmission is stuck in two gears. The shift lever mechanism is worn and needs replaced or repaired to prevent this from re-occurring. The only way I know to get it to move is to remove the transmission top and move the gears into neutral and repair then replace the shift lever. This is easy on an 8N but on the 2N/9N involves more disassembly work to get to the problem. If what I suggest is the problem, the engine should be stalling when you take your foot off (engage)the clutch. If it is not stalling as decribed here,the problem is in the Sherman unit.
