My 8n was running poorly this spring - low power, misfire in front cylinder due to fouling plug. The tractor was well used when I got it, and I haven't done anything to the engine since I put a valve kit in it 30 years ago, and only use it 20 or so hours a year.
Anyhow, I figured I ought to do a compression test and see if maybe it was time for a rebuild or at least rings. Couldn't do it right away so I dumped some Marvel Mystery oil in the cylinders and left it for a week or so.
Started it up today to drive it into the garage, and it seemed to start and run much better than it had in some time. Did the compression test (engine warm but not real hot), and found it had 127 to 134 psi in all the cylinders.
I would have been happy with 90, but 130 seems to good to be true.
